Quirky & Awesome

Here are some uncategorizable things that I have written. A collection of unexpected narratives, rhythmic interludes, and theatrical detours.

This is Ridiculous

I have a weekly blog: "This is Ridiculous" -- it's free.

I write random articles on Medium under mmdevoe.medium.com: you can subscribe or just look at the titles. Or just know that I write random articles on Medium.

R/Evolution, the Musical

( I am in fact a member of SFWA as well as SAG/AFTRA and Equity, but I wasn't in this show)

Poetry & Rhythm

Gargoyle Magazine was my first major publication in 2026. My poem "Book of Monster Days" was discovered here on Medium by the legendary editor Richard Peabody and he emailed to request to publish it. I am still reeling.

  • Seems my poem "Speechless" has been anthologized. Find it in a new 2024 Poetry Downtown anthology honoring Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" - you can get it here.

  • I'm not actually sure what "In Case You Were Wondering" is. Could be flash. Could be narrative poetry. Could be a fever dream. You can read it in the inaugural issue of Birdhouse Magazine, available here online (or in print Birdhouse Magazine Issue #1, December 2022.)

  • "After the Audition" published in an all-Villanelle issue of Limp Wrist. Read it in Issue #4, Sept 2021.

  • "Haiku," a poem published in inaugural issue of Sinking City Magazine, Sept 2016. Winner of the Spring 2016 #AWPPoem Haiku Contest

  • Winner: #NYCPOETTWEET annual contest sponsored by Metro, and judged by NYC Mayor DeBlasio's wife, poet Chirlane McCray, April, 2014.  â€‹

  • “PA,” The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Writing Poetry, (Alpha Books, Indianapolis, 2001) ed. Nikki Moustaki, page 105.

  • Read Down,” The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Writing Poetry, (Alpha Books, Indianapolis, 2001) ed. Nikki Moustaki, page 188.

  • Jazz,” America, June 16-23, 1990.

  • “After the Audition,” The Lyric, vol. 69, no. 4, Fall 1989.  - this piece won first prize nationally and won $1000.

  • Trivia: It was MM's first publication.

  • New York Magazine, August 2 1993, Competition number 768 , Honorable mention

  • New York magazine competition #848, April 22, 1996, Honorable Mention
